Extended Hours of Operation

A license is required if you want to open early or stay open later than allowable hours.

Definition

A license for any business in Minneapolis, which does not sell alcohol, to open early or stay open later than hours allowed in Minneapolis Code 259.300.

Examples include:

Coffee shops
Fitness centers
Gas stations
Laundromat
Pizza shop
Rental halls
Restaurants

The following types of businesses do not need an Extended Hours of Operation license:

Hospitals and birth centers
Colleges and Universities
Residential buildings
Parking facilities
Any business that sells alcoholic beverages

Applications

Businesses opening early or staying open late are required to be licensed.

Temporary Extended Hours - Licenses businesses may open early or stay open later for up to 35 days per year.
