About
Reacting to the elaborate decoration and ornamentation characteristic of the Queen Anne style, Colonial Revival architecture emphasized symmetry and simple detailing. Reappearing after the 1876 Centennial Exposition, the Colonial Revival style reflected patriotism and a return to the simplicity of the past.
