Project updates
The planning work for the New Nicollet site is complete! The New Nicollet Redevelopment project team collected input from community members from 2022 to 2025.
First phase of building on the site
We will now start to implement the vision for the site. In October, we plan to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the first phase of development at New Nicollet. Phase 1 development will be on the southeast portion of the site and will focus on providing:
- Affordable housing
- Ground floor commercial space
- Non-profit services spaces
- Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board program space
Once the developer for Phase 1 is selected, it will take about 3-5 years for the buildings to be funded and constructed. Buildings on the rest of the site will happen after Phase 1 is underway.
Stay tuned for more updates.
Street construction in progress
We are re-opening Nicollet Avenue between Lake Street and Cecil Newman Lane.
