City-owned unfunded property purchase

The City owns vacant structures and makes them available to buy for rehabilitation without city financing assistance. Vacant land for new construction without City financing assistance is also available.

Applications for City owned development sites and vacant structures are due on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 1 p.m.

Vacant Structure Open House Inspections

Attending the open house inspection is mandatory to submit an offer to purchase a property. All attendees must electronically submit a separate signed liability waiver for each property address including the scheduled date and time you wish to attend listed below. Up to three (3) persons may attend per development team. A confirmation email will be sent upon receipt of the liability waiver(s).

After you submit an offer

We have an approximately 90-day review and approval process led by:

  • Residential and Real Estate Development staff
  • The Minneapolis City Council
  • The neighborhood organization where the project will be located

  • Shows a rehabilitation proposal from residents who plan to live in the property as their primary home
