About
Reflecting several design features of sixteenth century English architecture, the Tudor Revival architecture became a popular residential style at a time of intense population growth in Minneapolis. While most commonly represented in homes, aspects of the Tudor Revival style, such as steeply pitched roofs, cross gables and decorative half-timbering are also found in a number of branches of the Minneapolis Public Library system.
Common Characteristics:
- Steeply pitched cross-gabled roofs
- Decorative half-timbering
- Rounded bays and turrets
- Massive chimneys
