We explain what to know about open enrollment. Eligible City employees make benefit elections for 2025 during the open enrollment period.

Open enrollment dates

Open enrollment begins on November 1. Employees must complete the online enrollment process by 11:59 p.m. on November 15.

How to enroll

Learn how to complete open enrollment, find your premium contribution rate and add dependents.

Complete open enrollment online

All active employees will enroll online using COMET.
Visit COMET

  • City employees click COMET HR to sign in. Park Board employees click Non-City User Login to enter an employee ID number and password.
  • Once signed in to COMET, complete your enrollment by going to:
    • Main menu
    • Employee self service
    • Open enrollment
  • After making your elections, be sure to click Submit. You will receive a confirmation email the next day.

We have two employee premium contribution levels: wellness and standard.

Add dependents

You must submit the required documentation to the Benefits Office for any dependents you add to your plan for the first time.

To submit your documentation:

Attend an open enrollment meeting or mini fair

Attend a meeting or mini fair in person or online. Mini fairs will include representatives from four of our vendors.

Mini fair and meeting options

This year we will have two formats for you to choose between:

  • Meetings will include a presentation that goes over the benefits and what to expect during open enrollment.
  • Mini fairs are a more informal format where you can ask questions of the Benefits team and a few other vendors.

What to expect after open enrollment

Confirmation statement

After the open enrollment period ends, you will receive a statement confirming the benefits you enrolled in.

If you see a mistake on statement

  • If you see anything wrong on the confirmation statement, submit a ticket on the CityLife Employee Hub on your City-issued computer no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024.

New Medica card

  • You will receive a new Medica ID card in December if your group number changes. Your group number changes with any network or wellness program changes.
  • Show your new card each time you check in for medical care or pick up a prescription starting January 1, 2025.
