October 19, 2018 Update: Concrete pavement repairs are substantially completed, and crews are still working on joint sealing that will be happening intermittently throughout Marquette and 2nd Avenue during non-rush hours (9 a.m. - 3 a.m.).

September 28, 2018 Update: Beginning Friday, September 28, crews will be replacing and repairing panels on Marquette Avenue between 10th and 11th, and on 2nd Avenue South at 7th Street and at 8th Street. Crews will also be conducting joint sealing throughout Marquette and 2nd Avenue. This work will be occurring during non-rush hours (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) and is anticipated to be completed within the next two weeks. During construction, there will be temporary lane restrictions, traffic delays, as well as sidewalk and intersection restrictions.

September 21, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South Pavement Repair is near completion.
This weekend and next week crews will be repairing the last few panels on Marquette and 2nd Avenue. During construction, there will be temporary lane closures between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 5th Street and Marquette Avenue and 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue. Advance notice signs and a traffic control agent will be available to direct traffic in and around the work area during rush hours. Expect traffic delays, as well as sidewalk, and intersection restrictions as crews are completing pavement repairs.

September 14, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South Pavement Repair is near completion.
Starting this Friday, September 14, crews will be working on concrete pavement repair throughout Marquette Avenue between 3rd and 8th Street and on the intersection of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue. Additional sidewalk repairs on 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue are currently in the works and are anticipated to be completed by next Friday, September 21.
Next week, crews will be working on the intersection of 5th Street and Marquette Avenue and will be replacing pedestrian ramps between 11th and 10th Street on Marquette and 2nd Avenue. During construction at 5th street and Marquette Avenue, advance notice signs and a traffic control agent will be available to direct traffic in and around the work area. September 7, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South Pavement Repair to resume. Concrete pavement repairs on 2nd and Marquette Avenue is near completion. Starting this Friday, September 7, crews will be on Marquette Avenue between 3rd and 7th Street and between 8th and 9th Street. Additional work to be completed on the intersection of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue and 6th and 2nd Avenue are also scheduled for this Friday. Beginning the week of Monday, September 10, there will be construction occurring throughout 2nd and Marquette Avenue. For specific locations of the work being performed on 2nd and Marquette Avenue, refer to the table below.

August 31, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South Pavement Repair to resume. Concrete pavement repair on 2nd and Marquette Avenue is ongoing. Over the Labor Day weekend, crews will be on 2nd Avenue between 4th and 2nd Street, and 9th and 8th Street. There will also be work sporadically on Marquette Avenue between 4th and 11th Street.
Beginning the week of Tuesday, September 4, crews will be conducting concrete pavement repairs on Marquette Avenue between 3rd and 10th Street. Additional work on the intersection of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 6.
As a reminder, construction on Marquette and 2nd Avenue will require temporary lane and parking restrictions. We ask that you follow all construction and traffic signs as crews are working to complete concrete pavement repair on Marquette and 2nd Avenue.

August 24, 2018 Update: Concrete pavement repair on 2nd Avenue and Marquette Avenue are moving along. Beginning Monday, August 27 through Monday, September 3, there will be concrete pavement repairs on 2nd Avenue between 4th and 2nd Street and Marquette Avenue between 7th and 11th Street. Majority of the work will occur on the bus lanes and will require temporary lane and parking restriction throughout the week. Crews will also be working on the intersection of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue, which will narrow 8th Street down to one-lane beginning Friday, August 31.

Beginning this week, crews will be working on Marquette Avenue between Washington Avenue and 4th Street. Remaining intersection work on 2nd Avenue at 7th and 3rd street is still ongoing. During construction, expect temporary lane restrictions on both Marquette and 2nd Avenue, and on cross streets as crews are making pavement repairs.
August 3, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South pavement repair to resume. Concrete pavement repair on 2nd Avenue is still ongoing. Beginning Monday, August 6 through Friday August 10, crews will be finishing intersection work on 2nd Avenue at 9th, 8th and 7th Street. This work will require temporary lane closures throughout the week.
Crews will also be conducting concrete repair on the final stretch of 2nd Avenue between 3rd and 2nd Street starting Friday, August 10 through Monday, August 13. Most of the work on this block will occur on the bus lanes and may not require any road closure.

July 30, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South pavement repair to resume. Concrete pavement repair on 2nd Avenue is close to being substantially done. Beginning Monday, July 30th through Monday, August 6th, crews will be working on concrete pavement repair between 4th and 3rd Street. During construction, local access will be maintained and vehicle through traffic will be detoured on Hennepin Avenue from westbound 3rd Street to eastbound 4th Street. See the detour map below.
In addition to construction on 4th and 3rd street, crews will also be finishing intersection work at 9th and 7th Street on 2nd Avenue. This work will require one southbound lane to be closed between 7th and 8th Street on Tuesday, July 31st, and one southbound lane to be closed between 9th and 8th Street on Wednesday, August 1st.
Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding as crews are finishing concrete pavement repair on 2nd Avenue.
July 23, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South repair to resume. Thank you for being patient as crews are working hard to finish pavement repairs on 2nd Avenue between 9th and 7th Street. Beginning Monday, July 23, crews will be moving northbound on 2nd Avenue between 6th and 4th Street, and construction on these blocks are scheduled to take approximately 1-2 weeks to substantially complete.
Delivery trucks and vehicle accessing the 5th Street Tower alley will not be able to enter or exit on 2nd Avenue beginning Friday, July 27 through Monday, July 30. However, access from Marquette Avenue will remain open for delivery trucks and vehicles accessing the alley. During construction, local access will be maintained and vehicle through traffic will be detoured on 3rd Avenue from 4th Street to 7th Street. See the detour map below.
July 16, 2018 Update: Concrete pavement repairs on 2nd Avenue is still ongoing between 9th and 7th Streets. Beginning Monday, July 16, crews will be on 2nd Avenue between 7th and 6th Street, and remaining work on 2nd Avenue between 9th and 7th Street will also occur in the same week. Depending on the weather, construction on this block could take approximately 1-2 weeks. During construction, local access will be maintained and vehicle through-traffic will be detoured on 3rd Avenue from 6th Street to 9th Street. See the detour map below.
July 6, 2018 Update: Beginning Monday, July 9, crews will be back on 2nd Avenue removing and repaving concrete between 9th Street and 7th Street. With great weather next week, construction on these block will take approximately 1-2 weeks to complete. Vehicle through traffic will be detoured on 3rd Avenue (see detour route map below), and local access will be maintained. We thank you for your patience as crews are working hard to complete construction on 2nd Avenue.
June 29, 2018 Update: There will be no construction work on 2nd Avenue all next week. Concrete removal and concrete pavement will resume the week of July 8, 2018. Stay tuned for more updates next week. Happy 4th of July!
June 22, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South Pavement Repair is ahead of schedule. Crews are moving quickly in the corridor and are ahead of schedule. Beginning Monday, June 25th, concrete removal and concrete patching will move northbound on 2nd Avenue between 8th Street and 6th Street. Construction on these blocks will take approximately 1-2 weeks to substantially complete. Remaining construction work on 2nd Avenue between 9th and 8th Street is in progress and is anticipated to be done by the end of this week.
June 15, 2018 Update: Concrete removal and concrete patching is heading northbound on 2nd Avenue between 10th Street and 8th Street South beginning Monday, June 18th. Construction on these blocks will take approximately 2-3 weeks to be completed. Remaining construction work on 2nd Avenue between 4th and 3rd Street will continue until Monday morning.
June 11, 2018 Update: Marquette and 2nd Avenue South pavement repair will begin on June 11, 2018.
Concrete removal and concrete patching will be starting on June 11 on 2nd Avenue beginning at 11th and 10th Street South. Expect traffic delay, noise, vibration and vehicle through-traffic detour in work areas. Changes and delays in bus services will be minimized to the extent possible.
