About
The project will include a new road surface, sub-base, curbs, sidewalk, boulevard space and utilities as needed. The street is in poor condition in this entire length, particularly the section with the concrete pavement. Pavement cores have revealed that the concrete base under the asphalt pavement on the south end of the project has also failed and requires replacement. This project will replace all of the sidewalk and add boulevard green space where feasible.
Project details
Project limits
58th St E to City Limits (south of 59 ½ St E)
Construction start date
2018
Duration of construction
It is anticipated that the roadway portion of the project will be completed and open fully to vehicle traffic by the end of the 2018 construction season. It is also anticipated that the existing sidewalk will remain in place to provide a hard surface over the winter of 2018-19. It will be replaced in 2019 and sod and trees will be installed in 2019.
Traffic impact
There is a residential neighborhood located south of State Hwy 62, and 28th Ave S will be required to maintain sufficient access to this neighborhood. It is expected that 28th Ave S will be at one lane during construction activities, and this may cause delays. It is expected that the ramps to and from State Hwy 62 will be closed, and 34th Ave S will be the detour for these ramps. During certain activities, such as the final layer of asphalt paving, 28th Ave S may need to be closed and access will be maintained to emergency vehicles only. Residents will be notified in advance when this occurs.
