Franklin Ave SE and Bedford St SE intersection improvements

The City of Minneapolis simplified the intersection of Franklin Ave SE and Bedford St SE to improve the experience for all users, especially people walking.

Project goals

The project need originated from nearby residents during planning for the 2016 Franklin Ave SE resurfacing project.

After further review, Public Works improved the Franklin Ave SE and Bedford St SE intersection that:

  1. Made the intersection more “legible” for all users
  2. Reduced crossing distance for people walking
  3. Improved sightlines for people crossing Franklin Ave SE
  4. Reduced driver speeds on Bedford St SE
