When you do not need a permit

You do not need a permit to put a dumpster or storage unit in the driveway of a residential property you own.

When you need a permit

All property owners need a street use permit if any of the following statements are true.

• You will restrict access to the right-of-way by placing equipment in the street or sidewalk.
• You need to post temporary "no parking" signs.
• You need to temporarily hood parking meters.

Storage container requirements

• Each container must display the company name and phone number and have proper reflective materials attached.
• Containers must be placed:
  • 30 feet from corner if address is a corner lot
  • Within 12 inches of the curb.
  • In front of or adjacent to the property where the permit is issued.
• Containers must be covered during non-work hours.
• Street use permits are not valid during street cleaning or snow emergencies.
• All parking restrictions must be observed.
