Historic Profile: The "Moorish Mansion" Apartment Building is significant as one of the most unique local examples of multiple housing units employing a Historic Revival architectural façade. During the 1920s, Minneapolis produced many standard apartment buildings with facades that reflected a wide variety of stylistic Revivals. Constructed in 1929 for M.E. Greenberg, the "Moorish Mansion" incorporates exotic fantasy into a modern building. Each of the façade’s three bays is uniquely designed using a variety of Moorish ornament, including copper dome, iron balconets, and spiraled columns. The Moorish Mansion apartments represent an excellent example of Historic Revival designs applied to contemporary urban lifestyles.
