Historic Profile: The Samuel J. Hewson House is a 2.5-story residence designed in the Colonial Revival style. It was built by Frederick Kees and Serenus Colburn in 1905 at a cost of $10,000. The Samuel J. Hewson House is a prime example of the Colonial Revival style as it exhibits most of the common characteristics of the style including: ia symmetrical façade, rectangular shape, brick veneer, dormers, fireplaces, and an accentuated front door.

The Samuel J. Hewson House is historically significant as an example of a Colonial Revival residence designed by master architects, Frederick Kees and Serenus Colburn; the house was built by master builder Theron P. Healy. The house is also historically significant for its interior design in the primary areas of the house done by one of the finest late 19th- and early 20th-century interior designers, John S. Bradstreet.
