Historic Profile: Overlooking the south shore of Lake Harriet, the Benjamin B. Walling House exists as an excellent example of Tudor Revival style as expressed through a variant on the English Cottage. Designed by Gottlieb R. Magney, the residence’s rustic coursed brick exterior, multi-gable slate roof and use of round arch forms all typify the attributes of the Tudor Revival style as interpreted in the English Cottage. The house was built for Benjamin B. Walling, a realtor specializing in business and industrial property at the cost of $37,000.
