Minneapolis planners bring people together to help create communities that enrich lives and have lasting value. City planners hold special concern for the long-range consequences of present actions in order to achieve this goal. This is accomplished through: 

• Updating the 30-year vision in the City’s Comprehensive Plan every ten years
• Providing more detail to the citywide Comprehensive Plan through facilitation of small area planning processes in neighborhoods, along corridors, and in transit station areas
• Developing citywide thematic plans on a variety of topics that influence all parts of the city
• Implementing City policies through zoning studies, public land transactions, and infrastructure improvements
