After Planning Commission review, the focus of the amendment became more specific to:

  • Make sure higher quality building materials are used on all sides.
  • Keep buildings in the City simple and well-designed by carefully selecting materials.
  • Make sure different materials are placed together for a smooth transition.
  • Make sure the high-quality materials proposed are not substituted for lower quality.

Goals of the amendment

The rules about exterior building materials will make sure that important parts of the Minneapolis 2040 plan are carried out. This includes creating a high-quality environment by promoting an urban landscape that is:

  • Attractive
