Using navigation

We explain the guidelines for adding pages to navigation.

Guidelines

Our site visitors use the navigation drop-downs to quickly:

  • Find the primary, most important, web pages in that topic area

 

When to include a page in navigation

  • Only pages containing primary content should appear in navigation. Topic overview pages are a good example of a page that can appear in navigation.
  • In each branch of the navigation drop-down:
    • Include at least two pages
    • Ideally include three to seven pages
    • Try not to include more than seven pages
    • Never include more than 12 pages
  • Only direct child pages in the topic area will be included here. 

How to add a page to navigation

To add a page to navigation:

  • In the T4 site structure, click the page name.
  • On the General tab, check the Show in navigation box.
  • Click the blue Save changes button.
