Feature Image/Video

A Feature Image/Video allows you to highlight your image or video on the page.

What it will look like

Example of Feature Image/Video

Description of this featured image or video. You can place the image on the left or the right. To make this more readable, always start with a Feature Image/Video content type with the image on the right.

A second feature

You should alternate placement of the text when you stack more than one Feature Image/Video content type.

When to use

Feature Image/Video is great for telling a story with images and short phrases. Here are some common cases where you might use it:

  • You have several key ideas to highlight
  • You want to create a more visual page
  • You have good photography available

Note: If you have multiple versions of a video (for example in multiple languages), make sure to create a Gateway page for them.

Best practices

This component works best by stacking several together to make a group. You can use up to 7 on your page to highlight key ideas with links to more information.

Do

  • Stack several together to make a group. Use up to 7.
  • Always start with a Feature Image/Video content type with the image on the right and the text on the left.
  • When you have one or more Feature Image/Video content types grouped together, alternate the placement of the images.
  • Follow best practices for using images.

Don't

  • Don't use large or portrait-oriented images. Stick to landscape-oriented images.

When to consider something else

  • Consider using a Scannable Paragraph if you don't have images or video
  • Consider using a hero image if you only have one nice image to feature

Note: When you have a video in multiple languages, link to a Gateway page that has all versions of the video.

Accessibility

Remember to use plain language for your writing, especially when you are grouping content together.

Remember to include an alt tag for any images you may add.
