City-hosted workshops
The City of Minneapolis provides a training for rental property owners and managers.
The Rental Property Owners/Managers Workshop (RPOW) is now available in an "on-demand" training. This way you can learn about rental licensing and resources at a time that is convenient for you.
The on-demand training will cover:
- Rental License and Renewal Requirements
- Your Property's Tier and Fee Level
- Your Responsibility to Renters
- The Rental License Inspection Process
- Common Code Violations
- What Happens After Your Inspection
Completing this training and the accompanying quiz will qualify you for a $250 discount on the conversion fee for new rental licenses. This discount is valid for five years on any conversion fees. You can also submit your proof of attendance from this course to receive a $250 refund on any conversion fees paid in the past two years.

Take the RPOW On-Demand Training
In-Person RPOW Training
In addition to the on-demand training, workshops are scheduled quarterly to attend in person. These trainings will cover the same content as the on-demand training, and participants will be able to ask Housing Inspectors questions throughout the workshop.
You must register for the in-person training at least 7 days prior to the scheduled date. If there are not at least 10 registered participants, the training will be canceled, and you will need to register for another date.
In-person workshops are scheduled the last Wednesday of each quarter:
