Overview

Building permit fees are based on the valuation of the job, including labor and materials.

You pay the fees when we issue your permit. We accept checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club.

Working before you get a permit

If you begin construction work before you get a permit:

• We may double your fees.
• You may have to demolish some or all of your work to:
  • Make it comply with building codes
  • Allow us to see if it complies with building codes

Permit fee refunds

You can get a refund for a permit fee if the work won't be completed. There are some conditions.

• If the work has not started
• • The City keeps a $50 processing fee.
  • State surcharges and plan review fees are deducted separately.
• If the work has started the City keeps part of the permit fee plus the processing fee.
• If we made an error you get a full refund.
