Purpose

On-site inspections of your work assure that your project:

  • Meets safety requirements
  • Complies with state law and city codes
  • Follows the approved plan

The State requires you to get your work inspected at certain points in the construction process.

Completion of work

  • You must request all inspections that apply to your project.
  • You must complete the work and pass a final inspection.

Scheduling

The homeowner or contractor who applied for the permit must set up the inspections.

The inspector's contact information is listed on your permit. If your permit is not available, you can contact us for that information.

The number of inspections you need varies by project.

Fees

Inspection fees are included in the permit fee.

There is no additional cost to make a required inspection.

There may be an additional cost if:

  • The work is not completed when we arrive for a scheduled inspection
  • The work does not meet code requirements and we need to come back.

Final inspection

All projects must pass a final inspection. When this happens:

  • The inspector will date and initial the final inspection item on your building permit.
  • The property information search tool will indicate the work has been approved.
