Green building

We explain the City's green building approach.

The City of Minneapolis is committed to providing sustainable options for metro living.

Green construction is a holistic approach that covers:

  • Healthy air quality
  • Sustainable building materials
  • Conservation of water
  • Energy efficiency
  • Environmentally friendly landscaping

City code provides minimum requirements for construction and remodeling, but there are many options to "go green." Your options can protect the environment and often save you money over the lifetime of the investment.
