Extended Hours of Operation

A license is required if you want to open early or stay open later than allowable hours.

Definition

A license for any business in Minneapolis, which does not sell alcohol, to open early or stay open later than hours allowed in Minneapolis Code 259.300. 

Examples include:

  • Coffee shops
  • Fitness centers
  • Gas stations
  • Laundromat
  • Pizza shop
  • Rental halls
  • Restaurants

The following types of businesses do not need an Extended Hours of Operation license:

  • Hospitals and birth centers
  • Colleges and Universities
  • Residential buildings
  • Parking facilities
  • Any business that sells alcoholic beverages
