  • You need a permit to store, use or handle hazardous materials in Minneapolis.
  • You must renew your permit annually.
  • Generally, you can expect to get your permit about 30 days after submitting your application.
  • Update your permit whenever there are changes to:
    • Your contact information, including emergency contacts and billing
    • The types or quantities of hazardous materials onsite

Find your fee

Fees are based on hazard level of the site, which the inspector will tell you after the inspection.

Ways to pay

Make checks payable to the Minneapolis Finance Department.

You will receive the permit in the mail after paying the fee. Post it inside the building in a spot that is easy to see, like near a door to the outside.
