Definition

A building wrecker is a contractor who tears down any building or structure within the city.

Class A building wrecker

A Class A Building Wrecker may tear down any building or structure regardless of size or height.

Class B building wrecker

A Class B Building Wrecker may tear down buildings that are a maximum of:

  • Three stories or 35 feet high
  • 10,000 square feet above grade

Requirements

You must provide a surety bond with your application. 

Class A building wrecker

Class A building wreckers need a $50,000 bond from the City.

Lane use permit

City law only allows two types of contractors to get a permit to put a dumpster on the street:

  • Wrecking contractors
  • Solid waste haulers (garbage trucks)
