Appealing your assessment

We explain the informal and formal appeal options available.

Appeal process

Contacting your assessor

Please contact the appraiser assigned to your property if you have any questions or concerns regarding your value, classification or homestead status.  The phone and email contact information for your property is listed on your valuation notice.

If your questions or concerns are not resolved after contacting the assessor, you may continue your appeal to the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization (LBAE).  If you would like to bring your case to the LBAE, an application is recommended.

Owners of income producing properties are required to furnish the City of Minneapolis Assessor's Office with income and expense data (for each parcel), per Minnesota State Statute 278.05, subd. 6.
