Biography
Frank Lloyd Wright developed an organic style of architecture that was distinctly Midwestern. During his career, which extended more than 70 years from 1890-1960, he designed a wide range of homes, churches, and civic buildings, all exhibiting his unique style. Wright has been credited with the creative development behind and popularization of the Prairie School design. He believed spaces should mimic the open natural environment of the upper-Midwest – horizontal lines, low pitched roofs and open interior floor plans. Fallingwater, a home built in Bear Run, Pennsylvania, is perhaps his most famous design. While Wright only had a handful of commissions in Minneapolis, many local architects adopted his style of organic architecture.
