Bicycle Master Plan

The current Minneapolis Bicycle Master Plan was adopted by City Council in 2011.

Protected Bikeway Update to the Bicycle Master Plan (June 2015)

The Plan established goals to improve safety for bicyclists and increase the number of trips taken by bike. It also includes bicycle policy, existing conditions, a list of projects and ways to fund the plan.

The 2011 Bicycle Master Plan addresses a broad range of bikeway types, including off-street trails, bike boulevards, bike lanes, and shared lanes.

It does not address on-street protected bikeways.

The City of Minneapolis also approved a Climate Action Plan in 2013. the Plan made 30 miles of on-street protected bike facilities possible by 2020.

This plan update decides the best locations and costs for creation of protected bikeways in Minneapolis.
