This program helps fund businesses adopting innovative business practices and processes that reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. 

Program eligibility

  • Project must be located in the City of Minneapolis.
  • Project Must not be built of started construction before applying.
  • Eligible Property Types:
    • Business/Commercial
    • Industrial
    • Multifamily (3 units or More)
    • Non-Profit
  • Project must have a measurable air pollution reduction of one of the pollutants listed in the table below. Reductions should be verified by a third-party analysis.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Particulate Matter (PM 2.5 and 10)
Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Sulfur Oxides (SOx)
Greenhouse Gases (Methane, Carbon Dioxide, etc.) Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs)

Program incentives

The table below shows the maximum incentive available for innovative pollution reduction projects this year. The city match is based on the recommendations made by the Green Cost Share review committee. The review committee will take into account the business size, cost of the project, location in the city, pollution reduction, and how new or innovative the proposal is when recommending city match amounts.

Automotive Refinishing Pollution Reduction

 
 
 
 

This program is designed to assist vehicle repair, service, and maintenance facilities adopt new business practices that reduce exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for their employees and surrounding community.

Program eligibility

  • Property must be at a vehicle repair, service, or maintenance facility located in the Minneapolis.
  • Project must not be built or have started construction before applying.
  • Eligible Project Types:
    • Conversion of paints, paint booths, and prep stations to switch from conventional solvent-based paint coatings to waterborne basecoats, low-VOC base coats, and/or low-VOC single stage coats
    • Low Pressure (HVLP) or Equivalent Spray Equipment
    • Aqueous Parts Washer
  • Project must have a measurable volatile organic compound pollution (VOC) reduction. Reductions should be verified by a third party analysis.

Program incentives

The table below shows the incentives available for vehicle repair, service, and maintenance facilities this year. Your city match is based on the total cost of the project. City matches are paid after the project is completed.
