The Business Technical Assistance Program (B-TAP) was created to bridge equity, knowledge, and access gaps for small and medium-sized businesses into the mainstream economy. B-TAP contracts service providers to work directly with new and existing businesses, providing consulting support and technical assistance to support businesses located in the City of Minneapolis. Through the work with those businesses, we learned that other systems are needed in order to promote growth opportunities for disadvantage businesses and to advance social equity in the City of Minneapolis. To that effect, B-TAP created B-TAP+.
B-TAP+ has 3 main objectives:
Build technical capacity in local non-profits to meet City requirements.
Provide specialized training to build capacity in B-TAP service providers and community partners.
Support initiatives to link Minneapolis Minority and Women-owned businesses and Buyers.
Create and sponsor networking events to facilitate connections between B-TAP participant business and buyers.
Research and access to meaningful data.
Fund initiatives that will allow the City to gain understanding of trends that will affect the businesses in the City
