Lynnhurst Residential Historic District Designation study and survey

You can read about the historic designation of the Lynnhurst Residential Historic District.

On July 31, 2020, the Minneapolis City Council voted to approve the historic designation of the Lynnhurst Residential Historic District. The designation became final on August 8, 2020. In December 2020, CPED hired a historic preservation consultant to write the historic design guidelines. There will be a series of virtual community meetings in February and March 2021 to discuss the guidelines and their content with the residents of the historic district. The final document is anticipated to be complete by early June 2021. Following a 60-day review by the State Historic Preservation Office, the historic design guidelines will be reviewed and adopted by the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission in August or September 2021. The design guidelines will be based on the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
