The City of Minneapolis conducts most performance appraisals in a single window of time. Most departments using PerformMinneapolis and Halogen software will complete performance appraisal activities January through March.
The deadlines for the 2021-2022 performance appraisal cycle are:
- Self-appraisal: January 3 - March 11, 2022
- Performance appraisal: January 3 - March 18
- Work Expectations:January 3 - March 18, 2022
There are three steps to complete in the following order:
- Employee completes a self-appraisal.
- Supervisor completes a performance appraisal, discusses it with each employee, the employee signs off in Halogen, the supervisor signs off in Halogen.
- Employee enters work expectations; supervisor finalizes and employee signs off.

- "Conducting Performance Appraisal" training is required of any supervisor who has not used the Halogen system to conduct performance appraisals. The class covers the City's performance management process, explains the rating systems and discusses writing comments. This 2 1/2 hour class is delivered virtually on the following dates.
