CityTalk is moving to TerminalFour (T4), the same platform as the City’s public website. The launch is scheduled for the end of October. The move means the intranet will look more like the public website, with a modern interface, improved security, user-friendly navigation and accessibility enhancements.
Content owners and editors across all departments have helped get their CityTalk content ready for migration. Their hard work means most outdated content has been removed and we have a clean slate to build on.

CityTalk will be accessible from any internet browser when you use a City computer. And if you’re not on the network, you will be able to access the site with your email address and account password using single sign-on. It will be like how you access Outlook or SharePoint from the web.
Highlights of the new CityTalk include:
- Streamlined navigation: You won’t find long drop-down lists for anything but the listing of departments. Instead, you’ll be directed to summary pages and from there you can navigate to where you want to go.
- Quick help: Help can easily be found through the floating red CityLife bubble present on every page. When you click it, you’ll see several options to get help and connect with IT and HR.
- Efficient search: You can search the entire site to quickly find relevant information. You can also use filters to find the news, events and learning that you’re looking for.
- Useful organizational tools: You can easily find upcoming events and learning opportunities from the calendars on the homepage. You can even add events to your calendar with the click of a button.
Please be patient if links to CityTalk from SharePoint sites or other documents aren’t working as expected immediately. Most links within CityTalk should work right away but it will take some time for content owners and editors to update external links and review their content. They will be learning the new site through training sessions in October.
CityTalk is for City employees
CityTalk is the City of Minneapolis intranet. Only current City employees can access the site. Unlike the City’s public website, which enables us to communicate with residents, businesses and other external stakeholders, CityTalk is designed for internal communication and collaboration.
