Minneapolis is a great place for filming and photography.

We require a permit for the following locations:    

  • Streets, sidewalks and alleys: Filming or photographing on any street, sidewalk or alley in Minneapolis requires an obstruction permit. There is no fee for a one-day permit. 
    Apply for an obstruction permit
  • Park property: The Minneapolis Park Board requires a permit if you film or photograph on park property. This includes lakes, parks, and the riverfront. Fees may vary. 
    Apply for a Minneapolis Park Board permit
  • Minneapolis City Hall: The Municipal Building Commission requires a signed agreement before filming or photographing inside City Hall.
