Hotels and motels require a license from the City.

Definition

A hotel or motel is a building or structure that is:

  • Kept, used, maintained, advertised or held out to the public to be a place where sleeping or rooming accommodations are furnished to the general public
  • Rented for less than one week, with or without meals

License application

You must have a license to operate a hotel or motel in Minneapolis. Before operating a hotel or motel, the owner or operator is required to file a for a license to operate.
