Minneapolis is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and has adopted targets to reduce community-wide emissions 15 percent by 2015, 30 percent by 2025, and 80 percent by 2050 using 2006 as a baseline.
Citywide Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
Minneapolis greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from citywide activities have decreased 19% compared to the 2006 baseline, exceeding the 2015 reduction goal of 15%. Upcoming goals include a 30% reduction by 2025 and an 80% reduction or more by 2025.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Protocol
Establishing a baseline and protocol in order to measure results is an important part of this initiative. The methodology for estimating the community's greenhouse gas emissions was updated for the 2015 inventory. An updated protocol will be posted soon.
