House & Garage Address Numbers

Solid Waste & Recycling crews need house garage address numbers. Address numbers are important to ensure that:

Please ensure that your address number is clearly visible.

Save money - Post your house or garage number yourself

If it is reported that your house address is not posted on your garage, our office will send you a letter requesting that number be placed by a given date. If numbers are not posted, then Solid Waste & Recycling will post them for you and add a fee for the posting your next utility bill, as per Fees & Charges.

What type of numbers should I put up?

City Ordinance Chapter 435.60 Address Display requires each residence with a public alley to have the house address posted in a manner that is easily read from the alley.

Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals. Numbers shall be a minimum of four (4) inches high with a minimum stroke width of one-half (1/2) inch. Numbers applied with a stencil designed for the purpose of address identification shall be permitted if otherwise in conformance with this section.

The numbers shall not be comprised of spray painted or hand-painted numbers nor shall the numbers be otherwise hand-applied by marker, tape or similar product not pre-fabricated for the specific purpose of address identification.

What else does my house address number do?

Garage address numbers are an invaluable aid in providing service to your home. City emergency personnel; solid waste and recycling crews; and electrical, cable and phone utility employees rely on visible house address numbers to service your property.

I don't have an alley; my garbage is picked up at the curb, in front of my house!

Then post your address numbers on the front of your home.

I don't have a garage.

Then post your address numbers on the back of your home.

I received a letter, but already have them posted.

Make sure they are visible from the street or alley. Trim shrubs or tree branches, if necessary and Solid Waste & Recycling to let us know the address is posted.
