Need to talk to someone?

Call our Customer Service line 612-673-2917.  Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

You will receive a recorded message about current service levels, and should be directed to a “live” person within 20 to 30 seconds after this recording.

Please be ready to give your service address, name, a contact number, and an explanation of the problem/question.

If you have to wait longer then 1 minute for a “live” person, perhaps you called the wrong department, have called after hours, or did not listen to our recorded message. Anytime we are not available to take your call, our recorded message will explain why we are unavailable.

Got a letter from our office?

Most of our letters are a follow up to tags left on the handle of your garbage or recycling cart. Please understand that our letters are another tool to help you learn the most about your garbage and recycling services. Unless your service address is part of an accelerated cleanup area, or has a health and safety issue that requires immediate attention, you should always receive a follow up notice by mail. 

Got a tag on your cart?

Our tags are left on the handles of your carts and are educational tools that the crew uses to inform you when your garbage and/or recycling are not set out for proper collection. The tag should explain any problems, but you can call our office to get additional information.

All tags are tracked by our computer system so that we can identify customer service issues and improve our education programs. It is not considered a “black” mark against you because you received a tag.

Cart missing?  How to get your cart back.

If you find that your garbage, recycling or organics cart(s) are missing, take a look in your alley to see if your cart was moved or placed at another house in error. If you find your cart at another location, go ahead and take it back. If you cannot find your missing cart, please call our office and we will assist you in locating your missing cart or we will have another one delivered.

We will remove recycling or organics carts from households who have placed items in their cart(s) that are not recyclable or compostable. Carts may also be removed if the household does not regularly participate in the recycling or organics recycling program.

Prior to cart removal, one or more educational tags will be left on your recycling cart or organics recycling cart, and a letter will be mailed advising that contamination was found or that the property was noted for non-participation.

When possible, a Cart Removal Notice will be left on your garbage cart when a recycling or organics recycling cart(s) is removed.

There are two options to have your cart(s) returned:

  1. No cost: Wait three (3) months and call our office to request the cart(s) be returned.
  2. For a fee: Call our office to have the cart(s) returned before the three (3) month waiting period is over. There is a $15 per cart fee to have the cart(s) returned early. This fee will be added to your City utility bill.  The utility bill payer must complete a Utility Bill Authorization form and submit it to our office before the cart(s) will be returned.
