Community Involvement & Responsibilities
We depend on each other to make Minneapolis a safer city to live and work in.
Start a crime prevention block or apartment club
- Contact your Crime Prevention Specialist.
- One or more neighbors must volunteer to be the block/apartment club leaders. It works well to have more than one person to share the responsibilities.
- Your volunteers attend block leader training to learn:
- Crime prevention information
- Use of 911
- How to organize neighbors and run effective meetings.
- How to keep the block/apartment club active
How to report crime and suspicious behavior
- Call 911 when you need police, fire or medical personnel to come to the scene.
- Call Minneapolis 311 to report on-going suspicious activity that is not happening right now.
- Call Minneapolis 311 to report a non-violent crime that does not need for police to come to the scene. Theft from vehicle is an example.
- Call or e-mail your Crime Prevention Specialist
- to organize your block
- to report neighborhood livability issues, suspected drug or party houses,
- to report crimes in your neighborhood.
Report graffiti
- Call 911 for in-progress graffiti or vandalism.
- Ways to report graffiti or vandalism not in progress
