Department Initiatives

The City of Minneapolis is working bring the City’s community engagement system into its next generation, including finding clear ways to support what is currently working and explore new ideas to enhance what’s being done.

As part of that, NCR is implementing a number of strategies that focus on building a stronger, more diverse engagement system.

Blueprint for Equitable Engagement: The Blueprint for Equitable Engagement is a multi-year strategic action plan to ensure an equitable community engagement system for the City of Minneapolis.

Collaborative Safety Strategies: This funding initiative supports collaboratively-designed programs that prevent violence in strategic areas of Minneapolis.

Neighborhoods 2020: The Neighborhoods 2020 process is an opportunity to look at how the City of Minneapolis serves and supports neighborhood organizations both internally and externally via staffing, organizational/advisory board oversight and grant-funded programs. Each piece is important for equitable and high quality services to our residents.

Community Connections Conference: The Conference will gather neighborhoods and community organizations on an annual basis to discuss broader neighborhood and city goals, objectives and opportunities. The goal of this annual conference will provide a forum to support broader discussions and alignment between neighborhoods, the City and cultural organizations. The conference is an important step in exploring how the City’s key partners – neighborhoods and community organizations – can get us there.

Minneapolis City Academy: This program was developed to give interested residents a first glimpse in to the operations and functions of how the city runs with the intent of participants continuing their involvement in civic participation by joining one of our many Boards or Commissions.

One Minneapolis Fund: The One Minneapolis Fund is designed to support the development of diverse leadership development and community engagement in the City of Minneapolis.

Senior Strategic Plan: The Strategic Plan coordinates the City’s efforts to support the contributions, preferences and needs as well as promote and support the value older adults bring to the community.

The City of Minneapolis invites and encourages participation by every resident to each program, service and event within our city. Should you require an accommodation in order for you to fully participate, or should you require this document in a different format, please let us know by contacting 612-673-3737.
