Abrasive Blasting Permit (Sand Blasting)

The Abrasive Blasting Permit is required for anyone using abrasive materials (ie. Silica, Water) to prepare any surface. Airborne particles can be a health hazard to neighbors. Testing is required to determine the lead content of the paint. No water or debris is allowed to leave the property during abrasive blasting.

The City of Minneapolis requires lead testing of surfaces to be abrasively blasted. Documentation of this testing is required before beginning abrasive activities and will be reviewed by City staff as part of the permit application. Please submit documentation of the lead test results with your permit application 5 days before the project begins.
