Complaint Investigations Division - How to File a Complaint

ATTENTION
As a result of the City of Minneapolis Public Health Emergency Declaration on March 16th, 2020, the Department of Civil Rights is operating in a modified capacity and will be unable to hold in-person intakes, filings, or meetings.  Please utilize our website to file complaints or inquiries.  Additionally, you can file a complaint or inquiry by contacting Minneapolis 311.

When should you file a complaint of discrimination?

The Complaint Investigation Division has the authority to investigate complaints of discrimination that have occurred within 365 days of the alleged incident.  Therefore, contact the Division immediately about your concerns.

How to File a Complaint of Discrimination

You may file a complaint of discrimination either online, by phone, or in-person:

Once you have completed an intake form, you will be asked to schedule an appointment with our Intake Officer who will discuss the alleged discriminatory act(s) and the investigatory process with you.
