W 31st St Pedestrian Safety Improvements (at Dupont & Emerson Ave)
In 2013, the Minneapolis Public Works Department installed temporary bumpouts at the intersections of W 31st St and Dupont Ave and W 31st St and Emerson Ave using painted curb extensions and plastic delineators as part of a pilot program. In 2021, Public Works plans to upgrade these intersections with infrastructure enhancements to create a safer environment for pedestrians.

Project Goals
The goals of this project include:
- Support demand for safe crossings
- Enhance comfort and predictability of all users
- Reduce crossing distance for pedestrians
- Upgrade curb ramps to be ADA compliant
Project Schedule
Summer – Fall 2020: Public Works will collect data and initiate a community engagement process
Winter 2020: Public Works will develop a layout concept
Winter 2021: Public works will provide a design recommendation
Spring – Summer 2021: Project implementation
