Northern Columbia Golf Course Stormwater Improvements
Starting in October 2020, the City of Minneapolis, in partnership with the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and the Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board will construct a new trunk storm sewer and construction of stormwater basins in the northern portion of the golf course.
The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (MWMO), Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, and City of Minneapolis Public Works completed a stormwater management study for an area in Northeast Minneapolis called the 1NE Watershed. Since then, Public Works has been coordinating implementation of storm drain projects from the study with upcoming street and park improvement projects.
The MWMO will be leading construction of a new trunk storm sewer and construction of stormwater basins in the northern portion of the golf course and park as the third project to be implemented from the study. The project will help relieve flooding in the park and the upstream neighborhoods, will provide water quality treatment for stormwater runoff, and will restore native vegetation.

Construction began on Oct. 26, 2020, and is anticipated to go through August 2021.
