Project Description
Project Background
The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, and City of Minneapolis Public Works completed a stormwater management study for an area in Northeast Minneapolis called the 1NE Watershed. Since then, Public Works has been coordinating implementation of storm drain projects from the study with upcoming street and park improvement projects. The 35th Ave NE and Tyler St stormwater project is the second project to be implemented from the study. It’s schedule is tied to the Waite Park Concrete Streets Rehabilitation project.
Project Schedule
Construction started in Spring 2020 and is anticipated to last through Spring 2021.
Scope of Project
An estimated 4300 feet of storm drain pipe will be replaced with larger pipes at this location to reduce surface flooding in the neighborhood. Manholes and catch basins in the project area will also be replaced.
Traffic Impact
During construction, residents, businesses, and visitors may face: traffic detours, noise, vibration, and dust in work areas. The following temporary impacts may include: lane restrictions, intersection reductions, parking restrictions, and/or revised pedestrian and bicycle routes. Residents will have access to their property throughout construction. We will continue to post construction and traffic detour information.
