Utility Repairs Underway

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is currently underway with construction of two new access shafts on 4th Street, just east of Hennepin and Marquette Avenues, to repair the underground tunnels. Repair work will include stabilizing the walls of the tunnel, removing debris from the top of the pipe, rehabilitating the pipe, then filling the space with grout. This work is anticipated to be complete by Spring 2020.

Check out the MCES 4th St Tunnel project for more information on the tunnel repair work:

Project Date Postponed

In order to best coordinate with several other active downtown street projects, the 4th Street Reconstruction Project has been postponed one year and is now anticipated to begin in Spring 2021 instead of Spring 2020. Additional utility work is currently scheduled to begin in Spring 2020.
