Special Service Districts
Special service districts are defined areas within the city where special services are rendered. Costs of the services are paid from charges to the area. State law mandates the creation of advisory boards through city ordinance for each special service district to advise the city on services within the district.
See the City-Wide Special Service District Map and SelfâManaged Special Service District Policy.
Advisory Boards
The work of Special Service Districts (SSD) is guided by an Advisory Board appointed by the City Council that is composed of business and property owners within each District’s service area. Business owners who lease commercial space need to provide a letter of consent from the property owner in order to serve on a SSD advisory board.
To learn more about SSDs or to inquire if you qualify to serve on an advisory board, please contact Andrew Carlson at [email protected].
