Transgender Equity Council

The Transgender Equity Council advises the City of Minneapolis and Park Board on matters of importance to transgender and gender-nonconforming residents; and provides a forum for issues of importance to the transgender community; studies issues, courses of action, policies, and programs that affect the quality of life for transgender residents and makes recommendations to the City and Park Board for improvements related to these issues; serves as a liaison between the Minneapolis transgender community and the City and Park Board; and makes every effort to ensure that the diverse viewpoints and interests of the transgender residents of Minneapolis are reflected in the course of work.

Vacancies

Council and Mayor appointed community members and a Minneapolis Park Board appointee for two-year terms.

Seats 1 - 8: Terms beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2022.

Seat 13: Term beginning January 1, 2020 and ending Dec. 31, 2021.

Deadline: Applications received until October 31, 2020

Selection Process

Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk to the Transgender Equity Council (TEC), Mayor, and City Council President staff for their consideration. Applications are reviewed by the Public Health, Environment, Civil Rights, and Engagement Committee (PECE) for recommendation to the full City Council.
