Bicycle Advisory Committee

The Bicycle Advisory Committee advises the Mayor, City Council, and Park Board on the following bicycling related issues; helps advance the state of bicycle infrastructure; encourage more people to bike; educates the public; works towards more compliance with traffic laws; helps the City and Park Board make bicycle plans; works to increase equity between bicyclist and other modes of transportation; reviews and suggests legislative and policy changes; recommends priorities for the use of public funds on bicycle projects; helps ensure that Minneapolis keeps and improves its status as a bicycle friendly community; serves as a liaison between Minneapolis communities and the City and Park Board; coordinates between different agencies that interact with bicyclists. BAC membership consists of appointees from each ward, three at-large parks board appointees and voting members representing the City Council, City departments and partner organizations such as Minneapolis Public Schools, Metro Transit and MnDOT.


There are currently thirteen (13) Ward-specific Council appointed vacancies for terms beginning June 1, 2020 and ending May 31, 2022.  Applicants must be community members that live or own in Minneapolis.

Selection Process

Thirteen Ward-specific members of the bicycling community to be selected by Council Members and reviewed by the Transportation and Public Works Committee for recommendation to the full City Council.

Additional Information

Meetings are monthly and dates and times are to be determined.  There is no compensation for serving on the committee.  Bicycle parking is provided.
