27th Ave NE Protected Bikeway

(Marshall St NE - University Ave NE)

Project Update: The project was completed November 2017.

Project Description/Overview:

The project will add protected bike lanes on 27th Ave NE from Marshall St NE to University Ave NE. The bikeway will run on the existing street surface and will be separated from the motor vehicle lanes by pavement markings and plastic posts. The bikeway will link the existing University Avenue NE trail with Marshall Terrace neighborhood and park to the west. It will be necessary to remove parking along both sides of the street in order to implement the bikeway. Accommodations will be made for commercial loading operations at one business, where this activity cannot be relocated off of 27th Ave NE.

The project is funded through Marshall Terrace Neighborhood Revitalization Program dollars, a Hennepin County bikeways grant, and City of Minneapolis Protected Bikeways program funds.
